After teaching middle school math and computers for 32 years I retired in 1998. In the last three years of teaching computers I found that I was having the most fun when teaching and playing with computer graphics. At the encouragement of a friend I started taking watercolor classes in 2001. The early years were frustrating as the classes involved painting within lines and patterns, I refer to this time as my 'Paint by Number Years'. In the fall of 2005 I joined the Park Hill Art Club and with the encouragement of several great teachers found ways to play with color, design and non-representational imagery. My work now involves a combination of layering acrylic and watercolor with other water media. I am also intrigued with the patterns and texture of collage.
In addition to studying with the Park Hill Art Club I have explored watermedia and its application to abstract imagery with several well known artist including Barbara Nechis, Gerald Brommer, Mary Todd Beam, Carol Barnes, Lian Quan Zhen, Miles G. Batt, and Mary Ann Beckwith and Mark Mehaffey.
