Joy Dare resides in Arvada, Colorado. Born in Denver, she was raised on the west coast, where she was employed by State of California. She also lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico for three years, working as an insurance adjustor. She settled in Arvada, Colorado, in 1974, and recently retired from a full and interesting career with United Parcel Service.
Joy is new to the art world and works primarily in acrylics and pencil. But she looks forward to "boldly going where no one has gone before" with other mediums as she explores them through demonstrations, workshops and with other artists.
Joy has always loved art and finds it an amazing, magical process. Each project has its own special way of evolving.
It is a part of us, but it is also an individual. Marveling at other artist's abilities and use of color/value has always made her happy. Every time she visits a gallery it has always given her the urge to paint. She is in it for the beauty surrounding her and the need to hopefully capture it in a way not seen before.
Joy lives with her husband Phred Dare. She has one daughter and four grandchildren.
