I have been painting since I was seven years old. I can't remember a time throughout my school years when I wasn't in an art class. I received some of my talent from my Dad, who used to draw and make creative things. His inspiration and ability to envision a project, then make it happen, has inspired the same "vision" painting that I currently convey in my artwork.
I was given private lessons from a wonderful oil painter named Loretta Newman. Her eye for detail helped me to look at a picture and notice the depth and layers of color that make a realistic painting. I received a certificate of completion from the Colorado Institute of Art in an Air Brush Class. I attended the Faux Finish Institute, and learned to use color to create texture and movement on an otherwise plain surface.
My love of animals has led me into painting them. The eyes of any animal can truly show you their personality, loyalty and the love that they show us every day. I hope that I am able to transmit those caring animal feelings in every painting.
