Julie Midyett lives in Golden and started painting in oil 6 years ago. She is a student under Marianne Billingsley and the late master painter Frank Cavino. She has also taken many classes and workshops at the Art Student League of Denver. Her favorite medium is oil and enjoys realism. Despite her favorites, she challenges herself to experiment in other mediums and painting styles as well.
Julie has a B.S. degree in Clinical Nutrition and has had careers in accounting, tax preparation, real estate and managing rental properties. Her hobbies include painting, drawing, running and investing. She has been a member and teacher for Better Investing, for over 20 years. This is a nonprofit organization which teaches people to invest in the stock market. She is also a member of the Women's Investment Team of Denver.
To balance such a heavy influence of finances and taxes, she decided to rediscover her artistic talents she had put on-hold as a young adult. By embracing this old passion, it has resurfaced in full force. And yet, Julie's love of science and mathematics is satisfied by studying the old masters. She remains in awe of these individuals as she continues to learn just how complex each work of art is, and the discipline required to create each one.
She is currently the treasurer for the Wheat Ridge Art League, and member of Art Student League of Denver, Denver Art Museum, and the Denver Botanic Gardens.
